Asharq News Office

Asharq News office was a specifically compelling project because it brought to the table a number of design challenges. Some of these challenges were: adhering to the brand’s aesthetic requirements, fitting all the functional needs in the small space provided, and last but not least establishing an outstanding acoustic environment that cradles a number of spaces that differ in function such an entry/waiting space, an enclosed offices, an open working area, an interview studio, an editing room, a server room, and an employee hangout section. The vision for this space was going for a more of an airy, sleek futuristic look. This was achieved by incorporating light-colored finishes with a lot of visual connection throughout the entire space. Hidden lighting played a crucial role to achieve the desired aesthetic, as well as elongated planar elements. The acoustics and lighting of this projects were major forces driving the design as sound had to be insulated, reflected, and absorbed differently in various areas throughout each room, and lighting -whether natural or artificial- had to meet the functional requirements of the employees, as well as the aesthetic requirements for cameras and interviews.
